Frequently asked questions

Is income tax deducted from my salary in Singapore?

No. Singapore has no monthly tax withholding on citizens' and PRs' salaries — your employer deducts only CPF. You pay income tax yourself the following year, in one lump sum or via GIRO. Our calculator shows your estimated annual tax bill so you can set that money aside monthly instead of being surprised.

What is the CPF contribution rate in 2026?

If you're 55 or below: 20% paid by you and 17% by your employer, on ordinary wages up to S$6,800 per month (annual wage ceiling S$102,000). The employee rates step down above age 55: 18%, then 12.5%, then 7.5%, then 5% above 70.

How do I calculate my take-home pay from gross salary?

Take-home = gross salary minus your 20% employee CPF share (for age 55 and below). That's the entire deduction. Your employer's 17% CPF and the Skills Development Levy sit on top of your gross — they never reduce your pay.

Does the Skills Development Levy (SDL) come out of my salary?

No. SDL is 0.25% of your wages (minimum S$2, maximum S$11.25 per month in 2026) and is paid entirely by your employer. You will not see it on your payslip.
